made this webshrine
I like to call it a webshrine kinda inspired by the old online weeb trend. It’s not really a shrine in the sense that 1) I’m a real person 2) okay I do probably have some superiority complex. Either way it seems like a funnier way to refer to it in the age of strawpages and linktrees and all these little webpage creators.
tools
My original plan was to use Svelte, because phrasing webpages in terms of components makes sense to me. But I’m trying my best to not dunk weeks of nitpicking into this project, and the tooling wasn’t doing what I wanted.
So I ended up coming back to Hugo static site generator, which I’ve had a working like-hate relationship for at least the larger part of the decade: I might not be writing the cleanest solutions, but I will usually be able to accomplish what I wanted to.
I haven’t involved genAI in making of this website. It probably wouldn’t do what I want, even if it could do the background trick better.
lyrics
I tried to build a little bit of song lyrics into every page’s background. If they don’t display well, try to make your browser window bigger. I know it’s not an ideal experience, but maybe that’s okay.
Also I did my best to embed each song on the page, but Bandcamp limits embed width and what not, so it doesn’t look great, and I don’t know yet how I want it to look.
